Salon Review: Headmasters, Reading

Louise Pearson visits Headmasters in Reading and leaves feeling years younger – and having learnt some DIY tips

After parking my car in the Broadstreet Mall car park, Headmasters was easy to find. As soon as I entered, I was struck by how bright the salon was, with open windows and excellent natural lighting, which is very important for any stylist to be able to see the true colour of hair. I was then greeted by Amber, who told me it would be herself who would be looking after me.
After taking a seat at her station, we had a chat about what it was that I wanted. She inspected my colour and both agreed it didn’t need doing. Instead, we decided to go ahead with an Olaplex treatment to repair my hair as well as a good cut. Amber explained that it is a targeted hair treatment, which works to strengthen, repair and protect any damaged or compromised hair, and improve its overall look and feel. Once my treatment was complete, I had a lovely wash and condition, as well as a relaxing head massage.

After another consultation about what she was going to do, we agreed on a blunt bob with bangs to soften the bluntness. While my hair was drying, Amber was shocked at how naturally curly my hair was and explained how I could enhance my natural curls. When it came to the blow dry, we agreed on a straight blow dry then sections curled by the straighteners. This is something I’ve always wanted to learn how to do, and Amber kindly showed me how. Since then I have been practising at home, and although I’m not quite as good as Amber yet, as they say, practice makes perfect.

Overall, I left the salon feeling younger and more confident and would definitely recommend Amber at Headmasters.
